The first casemod is unforgettable

Well, you see, about a year ago I bought this nice little parallel PSX joypad adapter. It's a nice blue little gadget that lets me plug 2 PSX controllers into the parallel port. Only one problem: It can't provide enough power to move the Dual Shock engines (+9v). So I decided to hack a power supply into the adapter... and left it at that: a decision. It wasn't until now I finally decided to actually do so, thanks to Gilnei (who was about to do the same, so we teamed up to purchase the parts.).

There is no point in getting into detail here, cause the schematics are all over the net. So google for it, will ya?

on for the pictures and a LITTLE description.

there you can see the left cover from the inside, with the attached power socket and voltage regulator, connecting to the circuit board.

same thing, just a different angle (useless information)

again, same thing.

now the assembled piece, missing the right cover. You can see the power socket on the right.

blabla.

there, the cute blue thing closed. The finishing sucks, but... well it was my first. Da Prototype.

Well, the adapter was designed to receive +12v (or anything above 9v and under something like 70v - that's what the voltage regulator is for), and I wanted to get the power from inside the case. I decided to put another power socket in the case, connected to the yellow-and-black 12v pair from a HD connector. Let's see the final view of the rear of the case, showing this power socket.

there you see the socket (inside the circle, dumbass)

farther, crappier view

please pretend you can actually see the black-and-red cord connecting the power output in the case to the input in the adapter, which is connected to the parallel port.

there, my beautiful/exquisite/gay red Dual Shock controller, hapilly lit.

cute, isn't it? An Epson printer, a VCR, a ethernet hub, a cellphone, my dear LG Flatron 795FT+, my Logitech iFeel mouse, my crappy ergo keyboard and the shiny dual shock. And Ulala's legs on the screen.

until next time! ...I hope it's not soon, though. This gave me quite a headache.
